J.Crew April 2010

The art direction in this catalog is beautiful. The spring flowers are a nice added touch throughout. I love the front cover(top photo.) I can see myself getting my hands on a pair of those shorts(denim shorts in desire wash.) This bag will suit my portfolio nicely. And, this wedding dress would be really nice, but I will keep dreaming.

Yeasayer

Really digging on Yeasayer's Odd Blood right now. We bought it at Lost Weekend Records recently and have not been able to take it off of the turn table. The album has great flow, which I love.

Nick Keppol Typography

This typography piece by Nick Keppol makes my heart skip a beat. It's as though I am love struck. Thank you for being so sexy.

The Forgotten Monarchy

Silence and Television, portfolio of Gianmarco Magnani

The Forgotten Monarchy 4 print series, YES please. 4 illustrations printed on premium 270 gm photo paper. Only 100 copies. If I was rich I would have these for inspiration. I think they are just delightful.

Jovovich and Hawk

Beautiful girls.

Beauty

This photo reminds me of my mother. I think it is because of the images of her in her wedding dress I used to look at as a little girl. My mother was a beach bunny, but this is probably what she would of looked like as a country girl. When I was a little girl, she would make my sister and I outfits of white and ruffles. Beautiful photo.

The books Co-Op

This is a page from Barneys New York Co-Op look book. I love the art direction in this. The combination of texture and color is done with sophistication. The use of multiple environments is a great touch. They have me engaged.

Ps. I love this bag. Jas MB Bag $395

Swampy

Interesting photos I came across on ffffound. They are part of a collection by Oakland, CA based artist Swampy posted up on flickr.

Wooly Pockets

How sweet would it be to have a fern garden on a wall in your house? Pretty f'n sweet. I came across these WoolyPockets on the Design Sponge blog. I want to get one for our window seal. Maybe add some lettuce and herbs so that I can have herb salads, my favorite. When Trent and I buy a house, I would like to add one to the patio.

Ryan McGinley

As many of you know... Ryan McGinley has been my favorite artist for the past say 7 years now. His recent works, "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere," are now displayed at the Team Gallery in New York. Reception starts tonight at 6:00pm. If you are in New York, specifically 83 Grand Street, please have a good time for me. The photo above is labeled "Algo B," this is my favorite.

I Blame Coco

I came across I Blame Coco yesterday from a friend. Coco Sumner, daughter of Sting and Trudie Styler, has an interesting tone in her voice. The music is a bit poppy for me, but I still enjoy it. It makes me want to get up and dance.

Fashion Eyes by Trendland

Fashion Eyes from TrendLand on Vimeo.

Trendland was "not keen on New York Fashion week this round." So, they made a video that would focus on what people were wearing, the details, and not necessarily "who was wearing them." They wanted to "capture fashion week style," which was said to be "more entertaining than the shows themselves."

The Bullet

I become really fond of the bullet shell and crystal necklaces. Although I am not fond of the price. So, I came across Savage Salvage's shop on Etsy.com. In my opinion, these are just as good if not better and they are also cheaper. Check 'em out. This necklace caught my eye.

The Morning Benders - Big Echo

Kind of digging this new album by The Morning Benders, Big Echo. I like sound. Said to have a "Grizzly Bear influence" by Pitchfork. I like when an album does not sound like the same song played over and over again. I am more likely to listen to the whole album this way. Way to go. When I head to the record store to purchase some new albums, I will be getting this one.

Stella McCartney

I came across these photos from Stella McCartney's 2010 show. If you see me in the next few days, you will know where I pulled my outfit inspiration from. I love this, so classy, chic, and clean. The other reason I love this is because during the show the Beatles song,"Mother Nature's Son" was played.

Ps. Love the shoes, need the shoes.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2010 2011

I was recently asked the questions, "who is your favorite designer?" in an interview. Not sure the answer to that questions, I replied with my favorite artist Ryan McGinley(photographer). Shortly after returning home from the interview I did some research. I came to the conclusion that if I could have any collection in my closet and love every piece, it would be the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2010/2011 line. With the color palette being very subdued, subtle, and armyesc. I love the fact that the outfits are ready to wear straight off the runway. I can now saw that my favorite fashion designer is Marc Jacobs.

I like romantic allusions to the past: what the babysitter wore, what the art teacher wore, what I wore during my experimental days in fashion when I was going to the Mudd Club and wanted to be a New Wave kid or a punk kid but was really a poseur. It's the awkwardness of posing and feeling like I was in, but I never was in. Awkwardness gives me great comfort." -Marc Jacobs in New York Magazine

Bear Turquoise Cuff

Trent was going to get this for me for my birthday. Oh man, I had my heart set on this cuff. It is so gorgeous and so me. As I watched the bidding on Ebay my heart sank a little with each bid. When I found the cuff it was at $65. At final bid, it went for $175. One hundred dollars more than I wanted to pay for it, although i do believe that it is worth more.

Francisco Gomez from Arizona makes these one of a kind pieces. You can find his creations on Ebay under the name scubacimbre.

Dire Straits Self Titled

Just picked up the Dire Straits Self Titled album at Elizabeths Records. This album brings up so many memories. My mom and dad went to the concert when I was a child. I remember cleaning house on sundays to this album with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. We had the cd in the car on loop while driving around Costa Rica surfing. I love this album.

Portfolio Bag

I want to make a bag that will house my portfolio, laptop, and misc. objects I will need for interviews and portfolio reviews. I wanted to make a bag that would be the only thing I would have to carry with me. I also want it to be fashionable, because as you know I am trying to get a job in the fashion industry. So, I have been bag shopping online for ideas on what to do for my bag. I came across this one. I cut out my exterior pieces yesterday out of a cream canvas fabric. I want to find a nice floral printed nylon for the interior. I love bags that are lined with soft nylon or silk. I also need to find the hardware for the bag. I went to Joanns and was not pleased with their selection. I will follow up with my finished bag.

(Ps. I am not copying the bag, I am just looking at this one for inspiration. I will be happy if mine comes out half as cool.)

Knife/Leaf necklace.

I recently went looking on Etsy.com for a necklace that would serve dual purpose, chic necklace and a knife(for safety of course.) I came across a few that I liked, but wanted to sleep on it. I am know to be an impulse buyer. After a few days, I decided maybe I would just get both. I could not pass up one of a kind pieces like this. Well, one of them was sold. So, here is the one I got. I love it and maybe you will find something by Contrary you like as well.
